LOG INHi, I'm Chloe
I am your tutor for your course.
I am here to help you make the most of the skills section of your DofE award. I am here to help you plan your course, answer questions, give feedback, suggest recipes and generally support.
I will also act as your accessor and submit your report for you provided you have sent me evidence on your cooking.
I love to talk about food and teach people to cook so please never hesitate to get in touch with your questions, or drop into one of our optional weekly live drop ins to say hi.

Your Quick Start Guide

1. GET COOKING
The best part of our Ultimate Skills Course is that it's completely flexible! With a huge selection of recipes available, you get to create a totally bespoke course that fits your current skill level and goals.
WHERE SHOULD YOU START?
We've designed the course to suit everyone, from kitchen novices to experienced bakers:
-
New to Cooking? We recommend starting with our structured Level 1 and 2 Skills Courses. They offer a fantastic mix of core, classic savoury and baking skills. Prefer to focus on savoury or baking only? You can choose to follow our dedicated Savoury or Baking courses.
-
More Advanced or Returning? Feel free to skip ahead! You might jump right into Level 2, 3 or 4, or you can pick and choose recipes from different course levels and our fully searchable recipe bank.
Each course is organised around weekly skills, and you can find the full list of available recipes in two places:
- Use the Recipe Lists link at the bottom of this page
- Go to My Resources > "Information for DofE Students" within your course
When you select a recipe, you'll get everything you need: a pre-recorded cookalong tutorial and a downloadable recipe card with a list of all of the ingredients. There is also the option to watch the skills tutorial to get a deeper understanding of the theory and practice of the weekly skill being taught.
Please note that our recipes are written to serve four people but can easily be scaled up or down as needed.
If you need any help with alternatives for different dietary requirements please just email us at [email protected]
Recipe Requests: We're constantly adding new recipes, but if there's one on the master list that isn't live yet, just let us know. We’ll film it and get it uploaded ASAP.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
We're here to help you build your ideal course! If you'd like advice on the best recipes or the right level to start at, please don't hesitate to ask. Just send a quick email to the team at [email protected].
SHARE YOUR FOOD
We often showcase student creations on our social media and website. If you're happy for us to share your photos, simply let us know in your email, or tag us directly on Instagram @roundtablecookery

2. Log Your Progress
This is really important...
As an Approved Activity Provider we will submit you Assessor's Report directly to DofE. However, we can only do this once you provided us with photographic evidence that you've cooked the recipes and completed the course.
HOW TO LOG YOUR RECIPES:
Logging your recipes is really easy. Here's what we need for every dish you cook:
- Take a quick photo of the dish as it is being cooked (one is plenty)
- Take a photo of the finished dish
- Get someone to taste your food and give you some feedback (it can be anyone - it is really helpful for your learning)
- Fill in your Recipe Log form. (You can download the log from the link below or in the 'Information for DofE Students' section of your course)
- DofE requires a total of 13 hours of cooking per 3 month course, but you have control how you log that time. We are aware that our more complex, advanced recipes often require more than 1 hour in the kitchen, we have therefore allotted a time credit to each dish. You can therefore choose 13 separate one-hour dishes. Alternatively, you can select a few longer dishes which will count as two weeks of credit. This allows you to select the recipes that you are most excited about, resulting in around 10 to 13 dishes completed over each 3 month period.
Please Note (Safeguarding): For safeguarding reasons, please only take photos of the food, not of people.
SENDING US YOUR EVIDENCE:
Email your photos to [email protected]
IMPORTANT: To help us log your evidence easily, please format your email subject line as: [Your Name] - [Week Number] - [Dish Name]
Example: Chloe Coker - Wk 1 - Quesadillas
We'll use your photos to log your progress, send feedback, and answer any questions. We will ask you to send a photo of your completed Recipe Log form at the end of the course.
