Who Does the Cooking in Your House?

Jun 25, 2026

Globally, statistics show that women do twice as much cooking as men. I am pleased to say that our classes don’t reflect that at all. We have a brilliant balance of boys and girls learning to cook with us.

I truly believe that if you give teenagers the skills and confidence to cook interesting, tasty meals when they’re young, they’re set for life.

Every workshop ends with a proper family meal, which makes it a really practical way to complete the @dofeuk Skills section, or send a teen to uni with kitchen confidence. But more than that, there’s something incredibly rewarding about a teenager putting a meal on the table for their family that they’ve cooked themselves — especially when it looks great and tastes even better.

Cooking can be one of those things that is a joy or a chore, depending on easy you find it and how much time you have.

I love cooking and naturally do a lot of it at home. People often assume that because I’m a chef I must always be making elaborate meals… but in reality I get stuck in the same routine as everyone else — juggling work, family life and feeding hungry teenagers.

That’s exactly why I’m always searching for quick, easy meals that work for my own family and that I can build into our courses.

Because at the end of the day, our goal is simple: helping teens develop the skills and confidence to cook healthy meals easily — something that will stay with them for life.
