Our Guide to a Leak-Proof Burrito - Wrap Like a Pro
Jul 08, 2026
Our students can't get enough of our colourful burrito bowls, bursting with fresh flavours and served with homemade guacamole and salsa. Served either as burrito bowls or in tortillas as burritos they are delicious. But, there is nothing more disappointing than making a perfectly packed burrito in a tortilla, only to find it on your lap.
We have made a handy infographic (below) to help you move from sloppy wraps into perfect burritos. Follow the steps below to ensure your burrito stays perfectly rolled from the first bite to the last.
- Place a tortilla on a board
- Leaving at least 3 cm at the sides. Place the rice in a rectangle just below the centre of the tortilla. Add the protein and any extras. Remember not to overfill it or it will not close.
- Fold both sides over onto the filling, then lift the bottom flap over to cover the filling, making sure the sides of the tortilla are tucked in
- Use your fingers to tuck everyting in and roll from the bottom, over, to make a tight roll
- You can wrap you burritos in baking paper or foil and serve them or, if you would like them crispy, place 1 tsp oil in a frying pan over a medium-high heat. Fry the burrito for a minute on each side until crispy.

Roll with confidence. Your shirt (and your dignity) will thank you.
